Frequently Asked Questions.

What services do you provide?

We offer CAD modeling, prototyping, analysis, engineering drawings, and fixture/tool design services at a professional level. We’ve worked in the manufacturing industry, and we know how to optimize designs for the best manufacturing results.

What CAD platform do you use?

SolidWorks; current annual release.  We are backward compatible if you have data in an older version.

How do you deliver this service?

We customize our mixture of services to meet the needs and desires of the customer.  So, depending on the type of help you need, we are able to blend various options:

  • Utilize InterLink’s Engineering Staff (and extended supply base) through our Phoenix Design Center. This is the best option if you have a product development project, say for custom tooling in a factory.  Another example: if you are developing a new product, and need a combination of skill sets.

  • Recruit a temporary CAD designer to work at your facility.  This is helpful if you want to oversee moment-to-moment progress.  Or when you want to provide more detailed direction.

  • Recruit a direct-hire CAD designer or engineer for your company.  Designers have a range of experience levels and skillsets to choose from.  We know most of them and are constantly interviewing and testing new graduates.

This service can be a great help to your HR department because we know design and manufacturing.  Your engineering staff and/or HR department will spend their time on more important things.  Like onboarding and managing the existing staff.

What value does your service provide?

It’s On-Demand, so it is available when and as needed. The value is that you only pay for what you need when you need it.

  • Our design staff is certified by SolidWorks Corporation and tested by us.  The value is that the skill set has been verified.  If you are hiring one of the recruits, you can rest assured that they have the hard skills you need.

  • You can optimize your engineering cost.  Keep your budget for development under control.

  • When you need a designer, you also need the workstation and software licenses.  We can deliver this as a package so that you do not have any wasted time before or after your project.

  • For product development, we provide a managed suite of services. We coordinate our supply base of engineering talent to deliver a complete solution to your project.

  • We have the expertise and experience.  We have been in business for 17 years.  Our leadership team has over 75 years of combined experience in various manufacturing sectors.

Has COVID affected your ability to deliver?

Several of our team members started working remotely three years ago. Being a progressive company, we saw that as an opportunity to provide increased employee benefits.  Now having a remote workforce is of interest to many companies. While we could not have anticipated the pandemic, we didn’t skip a beat when it happened.  We did have a decrease in business in 2020, but have maintained our core engineering talent.  If anything, COVID has strengthened us in terms of delivering quality work on schedule.

One thing that has changed though, and that’s the availability of talent. It is becoming harder to locate qualified designers. That may be a reason enough to try our services. We provide free consultations to determine if there is a fit. So, no risk to find out.  Then, when the inevitable crunch comes, you’ll be ready.

How is the business end of things done?

Clients typically keep us on a retainer to be available whenever needed.  Your finance department will contact us to initiate setting up InterLink as a supplier.  This step can take anywhere from a few days to a few months.  We will respond rapidly to all requests.  This is one more reason to contact us to set up a brief discussion to see if we can help you. Now.  Not later, when it becomes urgent.

How is the retainer managed?

Very much like an escrow account. Anything not used is available to be refunded, should the need arise. Keeping InterLink on a retainer for the times that you do need extra support helps in several ways.  First, all of the business paperwork between our company and yours is already in place.  A PO can be issued, invoices received, etc. Basically, we can do business together when we need to.  All that you need to do is make a phone call, and help shows up.

How are we reputable?

We’ve been in business since 2004. Most of our business comes from people who have hired us before.
