Contract Mechanical Design Engineer
These positions are for at least two months with the possibility of direct hire by this client or continued work through InterLink. Celebrating our 17th year in the Phoenix area, InterLink Engineering, LLC supports a wide variety of industries with a primary focus on product development, reverse engineering, and design support. Our capabilities allow us to support our customers by either performing engineering tasks at our facility or at our customer sites as required.
We are currently seeking two SolidWorks Mechanical Designers with experience in metal fabrication, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing using SolidWorks Sheet Metal. This opportunity is a six-month contract role with the possibility of direct hire by this client or continued work through InterLink, based on performance. The qualified Designer would work on-site at our customer’s location where vehicles are heavily modified for accessibility.
Experienced with SolidWorks CAD Software
Experienced with SolidWorks sheet metal
Ability to design new products from scratch and make improvements to existing products using computer-aided design (CAD) under the guidance of Senior Engineers
Ability to quickly transform ideas and rough sketches of designs into 3D models, then into working engineering drawings in CAD
Ability to create detailed 2D drawings of parts and assemblies
Ability to collaborate with 15-person team and keep project confidential
Ability to rapid prototype and adjust immediately to design changes
Be able to analyze data, review drawings for completeness, conduct design reviews with product management and suppliers to gain final approval.
Supports Lean and Quality initiatives to reduce variability in designs.
Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Support Product launch in production environment – training and quality inspections
Able to sit for long periods of time
Able to effectively operate CAD System
Able to communicate effectively in all media
Knowledge of Lean practices
3 years experience in SolidWorks
BS degree preferred but not required
Capable of tolerance stacks and analysis
Knowledgeable in common metal fabrication and machining processes
Hands-on ability to take designs and create physical prototypes (mechanical aptitude)
Automotive experience preferred but not required
Surfacing or plastic design is a plus but not required
Tool and fixture design a plus but not required
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to multi-task and function in a factory environment
Motivated, self-starter with the ability to learn quickly
Ability to network with associates in other departments to find needed information
Willingness to consider change and to adapt
